What do you think about Men wearing Make-up?

I am absolutely fine with my boyfriend wearing makeup.  He looks cute with eyeliner!

I'm a guy who likes to wear makeup.  It doesn't have to be any creepier on a man than on a woman.  It should be applied with good taste whatever your gender.  A makeup artist at the Lancome counter has shown me how to do this.  She likes makeup on men.

I don't like the idea at all.  Men should be men and let the women beautify.

I have no problem with it whatsoever. I think it can be edgy and artistic when not overdone!

I love the look on men when well done. Why shouldn't men want to cover blemishes and draw attention to their eyes? The problem for me is when I see makeup and not the person, that goes for either gender. Though admitedly to much makeup and I figure the guy is gay but the reverse does not hold true. I have encouraged and helped my guy with a beauty enhancement.

This makeup pictured is a bit too much, but why shouldn't men wear makeup?  Even women look freaky when they do makeup like that picture.    Male, female, as long as it is tasteful, go for it.

My opinion, I only like men wearing makeup at football games expressing team spirit.  But Keith Olbermann (MSNBC news anchor) looks good with makeup!!!  Whoever are his makeup artists, they did heck of a good job of making him look handsome onscreen.

P.S. my husband has a full beard.  Makeup would not look good on him.

While I don't think makeup is "right" for every man, I personally think that if it makes him feel good then go for it. Also I do love a man with nicely polished finger nails!

Not all guys can rock the look.  The dude has got to be comfortable in his skin to be that bold.  For example, Adam Lambert is glamtastic because he is fearless and knows how to apply the liner well.  I could never see my husband line his eyes because he is not that secure, to be honest.  Frankly, if my husband lined his eyes and looked hot, I'd be all for it.

 My hubby would never put make up on but I don't see anything wrong with a guy covering a blemish or a shiny nose/forehead. If they use a little liner to enhance their eyes I think that's fine too. With men I think subtlety is key, UNLESS you're Adam Lambert. :D

Men wear make up on tv and the stage and manage to look natural why not irl?

For me it is weird... but I was raised with a '50's mentallity, so I know for a fact I am old fashioned and out of date.  I know it would never happen with my guy, the idea freaks him out, lol. 

I agree with a lot of the above comments- if it is done tastefully I am all for it. Why not cover blemishes and play up your assets? Go for it guys!

I don't like the 'over-the-top' look on men or women so I hope guys don't start doing their makeup like in the picture! Enhancing yourself is one thing, playing the clown is another

What happened to men just being real men?  My husband would throw up at the idea.  Thankfully....

These comments made me think WTF?! Men should be men? are you serious? so only women are should be allowed to wear makeup? What a double standard. Good thing for freedom of expression. Other opinions that other people wrote how they do not like it is different from how i feel about these comments.

Men in the media wear makeup all the time; models, actors, etc. Some sutle, others not. Its 2009, get over it.

I like it when a guy cares about his appearance but it's kinda creepy to see a guy wear makeup.  It doesn't bother me when a man goes to the shop to get his hair done (styled, cut , dyed, permed or whatever) but makeup? Nah!

I just want to add my voice to the 'it's perfectly fine if a guy wants to wear makeup' camp.

For me it doesnt matter if he just wants to cover up a blemish or something but i draw the line at eye liner! lol....i dont want the guy to take a longer time getting ready than i do....it would just be weird. lol

Bad example pic.  Even the "for" crowd doesn't like it.  I think guys (especially guys on stage) look great in eyeliner.  Think of Johnny Depp in kohl.  :)

I like guys in makeup but their makeup should be done differently than women's in my opinion.  Unless a guy is being a drag queen, I don't think red lipstick looks good.

I don't have a negative point of view on men wearing makeup at all. I don't think anyone should be told what we can and can't do. So if you want to drag eyeliner all the way to your temple and put on red lipstick, or wear black lips with a bubble pink blush, go for it. Rock it!

If they guy is comfortable in it, it can be an amazingly sexy look. I think this goes back to being a huge Duran Duran fan in the early 80s. The Poison-era makeup never really did it for me, but a guy secure enough to put on some black eyeliner? Bring it. :)

 There was a period in history when men wore the makeup and wigs and cared more about style than women, at least that was so in people of class and means.  In some tribal people, the men decorate themselves, painting their faces, to attract a bride.  So it isn't a question of right or wrong but more of what is acceptable by the majority of society and do you care.

Personally I wish my husband would wear a bit of makeup to cover his blemishes, and that he would use more skin care products.

not too into this.. my boyfriend is a hockey playing, sports loving, rough & tough type of guy. if he started wearing eyeliner, I think I'd start getting a little worried.

I don't mind men wearing make-up I guess. It takes me by surprise at first but as long as they don't go overboard like looking all goth-like. My guy friend who is prone to acne break outs wear foundation. I have to say that he hasn't perfected it but it looked cool and weird at the same time to actually know a guy who wears make-up. I even gave him pointers of how to help his make-up last long with the help of foundation primers and powder but I don't think he wants to try the powder.

Men wearing make-up is fine for a photo shoot, news anchor or actor/singer.  However, in everyday life, my answer would be no.  Imagine a firefighter in lipstick!  Or your OB-GYN (male of course) in full face make-up.  Creepy!

Up to the men...if they want to wear it they can, if not then not.  I know a lot of actors from all over the country wears it but lightly only though...Too much is over doing it.  But most of them look HOT in it!

DO IT! By all means if you guys want to wear makeup go for it!!!! I dont think it has anything to do with sexual orientation. Its self expression and ALL people men and women should express themselves even more so. Lots of other cultures have been doing it for thousands of years. I think certain makeup is feminine but alot of it can be down right masculine too.

Actually- I have no problem with men wearing makeup at all, if they like it then i like it. BUT on the other hand i dont know how id feel about someone like my boyfriend or something wearing makeup- i dunno its weird.

I'm just going to plainly state that this is nothing new. It's been done throughout history.
Also the "Gay yes, straight no" comments are pretty ridiculous. 
Personally, I think makeup is pretty hot on guys, and in the end it's all a matter of personal taste.
For men and women both. 

And if nothing else, I'm glad we have enough freedom now  to choose.

I think its more of a personal perference thing... I think if a guy needed touch up or to cover blemishes its totally fine, I just dont know about men wearing glittery eye shadow or anything like that... I guess it would be weird if my husbands make up looked better than mine LOL....

 I never paid attention to men wearing make up till i noticed i kept running out of my conceler. Turned out i wasn't the only one using it, lol....     

I wasn't mad about it just wish i knew,  that way i would have ordered enough to share!

I think it's awesome. Why shouldn't guys where makeup if they wanted? We share so much stuff already, why not pass the eyeshadow lol.

i like my guys to be guyish, and it would irritate me to know end if he took forever getting ready. I like laid back guys, and that doesnt normally go hand in hand with high maintenence.

It's ok if it's not to noticable. A little bit of eyeliner, mascara, foundation, concealer, powder, natural colored eyeshadow, lip balm, a matte natural colored lip color, etc. Nothing over the top.

I didn't realize that because my boyfriend wears (lots) of makeup, he's less of a man.  Oh well, he can probably still kick your husbands butt, with or without makeup.

Also, by the way ladies:  make sure that if you are sharing makeup with your men, make sure they have their own brushes and appicators, or you guys will be sharing bacteria, too!  My boyfriend has his own sets of brushes, eyeliners, and makeup, but he's welcome to my makeup as long as he uses his own brushes.

 I think it's WEIRD, but if they do suddle things like eyeliner and foundation/ bronzer I guess so...........

Personally, unless a guy is performing onstage, part of a rock or punk band, or is an actor...I don't really like makeup on guys.  To each their own, I guess, but I wouldn't be into it if the guy I was dating wore makeup.
